We watched it a couple of days ago. I think Hel enjoyed it more than I did.
Is that this?
On my to watch list ![]()
Thatâs what really annoyed me about it. But itâs worth watching
Someone from the very same media the film spends its time skewering doesnât like being skewered.
Actually many reviewers in the US havenât enjoyed being on the receiving end quite so pointedly. Their reaction reinforces perfectly what the film is saying.
Although the people it skewers best are the polling influenced, anti science, politicians but neither they nor the media come out of it looking good. Neither do the likes of Musk, Bezos etc.
The quote didnât quite work. What annoyed me was the smug superiority, well phrased I thought. I thought it was a decent watch, but wished it had the smarts of Ionucci, say, to raise it above taking easy pot shots.
As I said, sometimes satire needs heavy boots and in this case they did the job. But even when In the Loop first aired, Alastair Campbell responded to Malcolm Tucker by saying it was boring/feeble. A US audience certainly doesnât need more subtlety.
The Guardian film reviews are mostly complete shit, they only seem like films made for film reviewersm and other pretentious shite, so they can wank on about it.
This particular reviewer is based in Brooklyn and writes for publications at the root of where the satire was aimed. Bound to be prickly.
I just find that in general I rarely agree with the Guardian reviews as a whole. They loved Ad Astra FFS.
I watched it, found it all a bit too obvious tbh. I get that is satire but it just didnât hit the right notes for me.
It was time in my life that I will never recover. I can see what they were trying to achieve but missed the Mark ( pun intended) by a long way.
Agreed, it was as if Hollywood put it together by committee. Mars Attacks was betterđ

Watched the first part of Get Back today. It felt like a privilege to watch them at work. I was always going to love it as a Beatles fan boy but I was amazed how much Erica enjoyed it.
Looking forward to it being generally available outside of Disney Channel.
Eventually.
I bit the bullet and signed up. Only have to pay for one month at ÂŁ7.99.
If I had to pay for a year I would still be happy.
Fair enough but I have quite enough ÂŁ7.99 - ÂŁ9.99 subscriptions every month
I thought this was chilling (and superbly made)
If anything, this hits home with even more impact.
The first hand accounts are particularly harrowing.
