Did you enjoy S1? I found it quite watchable.
Yeah I really liked S1.
I might give S2 a go.
I gave up on it after three episodes of the new season. First one was ok at best but Iām a huge TNG fan so I did enjoy seeing the old characters. That drivel they put out as season two though⦠I mean ffs they have enough money for writers, does no one vet the storyline before they decide to ruin it. Surprised that Patrick Stewart agreed to being part of that dross.
Have never watched The Wire, so thinking of binging that while waiting for Better Call Saul to conclude.
I ended up binge watching the whole lot in a couple of weeks last year, itās brilliant.
The wire is possibly the greatest series Iāve ever watched. Slow burner but once you get into it, brilliant. Up there with, if not better than, The Sopranos.
I read one of the books years ago (āOn The Cornerā). It was harrowing. Might read the other book (āHomicideā?) before starting The Wire.
Love island
Weāve just started it after seeing the advert for We own this city. Not sure if I need to watch the Wire first but weāre going to give it a go.
Like you , waiting for Better call Saul. Along with Stranger Things and Walking Dead.
Also quite enjoying Wrong side of the tracks.
Thought Iād finally watch The Detectorists - superb.
Itās really good isnāt it?!
Just skipped my way through latest season of Stranger Things. This new fashion for splitting the final season in two, like Ozark and Better Call Saul, is driving me mad. I loved all those three series but the final seasons just drag on and on. It got to the stage with ST I started skipping through all the sub-plots and lengthy dialogue scenes I knew wouldnāt contribute significantly to the main story, just to get through it in a reasonable time. These arenāt masterfully crafted shows where one gains from immersing oneself, admiring the cinematography, or fine script - theyāre just overly long and tedious. Just wrap it up already!
Top notch and Iām only on episode 5 - the writing and acting remind me of Early Doors.
I happened to browse to Who Do You Think You Are last night, which was looking at Matt Lucasās ancestors and family. The boy was in the room, and heās a fan of Lucas.
Lucas is Jewish, descended from immigrants from Germany; most left Germany in the 30s and 40s but some went to Amsterdam. It was as harrowing as you might expect, but the gentle humanity of the German and Dutch people who maintain museums and records was genuinely uplifting.
As this country develops fascist tendencies, you realise that maintaining such records is the best way to connect with the past to ensure that it isnāt repeated, but itās not something that really happens here. It made me afraid for where we might end up.
Off to see Maverick with the missus. Feeling the need
Itās really silly, but great anywayš
Talk to me Goose, talk to me.
It is indeed very silly but itās not as Ye Hah as the original which I like. Cracking film overall. But I have the soundtrack to the original on now - not enough Kenny in the new one
