Desktop or laptop?

if a laptop, I would try a ‘hard’ off and on again - take out the power, remove the battery, give it 30 secs to completely power down then try again. Probably wont work but easy to try.

If its a fairly new laptop (UEFI boot) if you interrupt the boot 3 times by turning it off, the next restart should take you into the recovery menus

The 3 x boot thing should work on a UEFI desktop too.

google is your friend as they say (look for how to recover a PC that wont boot into windows)

IF you can get it to recover and wake up, backup anything important and replace the HDD would be my advice. I’d replace it anyway after that,but hopefully you’ll be able to wake it up enough to copy anything you don’t have backed up already

If you get to the spinning dots and it takes a long time, just be patient, my work laptop can take 10 hours to boot from cold (nope, not exaggerating, 10 hours of a black screen and spinning dots, then ‘ping’ its awake - and that is with an SSD i7 machine!!!)

Seems to have been a killer update - my lappy’s now unable to hold on to a wifi signal for more than a few minutes, having been bombproof for the last 3 years… :rage:

There wasa BIG Windows update a couple of days ago. Took my laptop the best part of a day, and now Kaspersky has done a big one.

dont know if its beyond that - it looks like its not recognising the HDD, perhaps the master boot record (MBR) has got corrupted…

the three abortive starts might cause the recovery partition to wake up, you never know.

Thomas fucking Cook, I have just been gouged for ÂŁ65 for a cabin bag that is 10 mm to fucking wide. I have owned the bag for years and have never had any problems in the past including on Thomas cunting Cook flights :angry:
