Le Cleach profile

I’m a finger twitch away from ordering a pair from Aus, Azurahorn.
Anyone tried a pair?

I’m talking myself in to someone else faffingšŸ™‚
Life is short, money is not an issue, I’m building other things at the moment.

Yes, they are the ones in my system. They don’t have the full round over.

Thought they looked the same.
Guess that’s cos’ they are GRP? and you can’t release a full wrap around from a mold.

Hmm.
The tractrix I have (turned myself) have pretty full wrap around.

The throat of tractrix and Le C is very, very, similar. It’s the wider flare where things differ.

Ritchie, can you compare the sound of your Tractrix to the Le C a bit more?

It’s a while since I swapped over! I think the LeCleach are less coloured maybe, or at least a different colour. They just disappeared a bit more in comparison. If you click your tongue on the roof of your mouth and make a hollow tok sound, the tractrix by comparison had a hint of that character to my ear. Obviously, I only noticed it after I swapped them, I wasnt looking to change. The tractrix haven’t been back in since…

If I get time over the weekend, I’ll swap them back in and give you my impressions. :+1:

Got to love a bit of Romy🤠.

Can you not turn some up on the lathe?

Would do in a flash but can only swing 9".
To swing more than 12" needs a massive or specialist lathe.
I was thinking to extend the drive beyond the bed, but to accurately turn wood would take a stable platform.
Would be easier to convert my big end sander. Mount it and somehow a tool rest on my table saw bed…
That spins a bit fast so would need to get the piece pretty well balanced beforehand.
I’m thinking through the latter.

QEDšŸ˜€

Edit: I’d like to see that fecker make a decent Le Cleach hornšŸ˜‚

I miss my lathe. That’s a 12" chuck. 18" swing over bed, bit more over the gap.

ā€œit cost how much?ā€ :exploding_head:

Serious but of kit that.

Perhaps someone can 3d print a pair?

How Martin Seddon does it.

Yes, remember looking at those pics many moons ago.
The angle grinder idea is great for making a plug. To do the inner turning requires a more proper adjustable tool rest and wood lathe rpm.

Edd’s Motel and Horn Factory, Spalding. :grinning:

Can stay over while your horns are made.
