Obituaries

I used to do bar work as a student, we were working at a private Christmas party function and big Robbie was there, must have been around 97/98. I’ve never seen a man consume so much vodka. Half glasses of straight vodka all night and smoking large cigars. My memory of the end of the evening is a bit hazy as we ended up drinking a fair portion of the stock, but he stuck £20 behind the bar afterwards for us. As it was a free bar that was the only tip we got all night. RIP Robbie

What a shame - seems he was as large a character off screen as he was on it.

My favourite thing he starred in is still this although tbh I don’t think I’ve ever not enjoyed watching him act.

Not a lot you can gloss over in his life, he was pretty much a persistent cunt.

FIA.

Might have been suicide.

Looks like Glenn Croft died a few days ago.

Always liked his amps, nice punchy EL84 type sound, also thought those rather plain boxes actually looked quite good.

I love the Croft kit that I own. Sorry to hear this. RIP.

Very sad news

I was only in touch with Glenn once, to ask which brand of EL34s he recommended for my ‘Croft modified’ Quad IIs. “Mullards, if you can get them, JJs otherwise” was his prompt and helpful reply, admittedly sent by e-mail at about 3am, as was his wont. I’ll have to get them out and play them, for old times’ sake …
